How the calculation works

Every booking inquiry that waits too long for a reply has a lower chance of turning into a booking — the guest keeps searching and often books whichever hotel answers first. The calculator compares the booking rate you get with a fast reply to the rate you get with a slow one, and applies the difference to the inquiries that are answered slowly today.

To find your own numbers, go through last month's reservation inbox: count the inquiries, note how long each waited for a first reply, and mark which of them became bookings.

Frequently asked questions

How is lost revenue calculated?

Lost bookings per month = inquiries × share answered slowly or not at all × (booking rate with a fast reply − booking rate with a slow reply). Lost revenue = lost bookings × average booking value. The yearly figure is the monthly figure × 12.

Where do the default numbers come from?

They are example values only, chosen to make the calculation easy to follow. Replace them with your own numbers: count last month's inquiry e-mails, check how many waited more than an hour for a reply, and compare how many of each group booked.

What counts as a slow reply?

Choose a definition that fits your guests — for example more than one hour, or any reply that arrives after the guest has already booked elsewhere. Inquiries sent at night or during check-in rushes are usually the ones that wait longest.
